Thanksgiving Reflection

Dear Parishioners and Friends, Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

On Thanksgiving Day we will celebrate Holy Mass at 9:30am. At this Thanksgiving time let us remind ourselves and be grateful for daily Blessings God gives us by quoting words of Jesus Christ from today’s Gospel reading according to Saint Luke (Luke 17:11-19)

“As Jesus continued his journey to Jerusalem, he traveled through Samaria and Galilee. As he was entering a village, ten persons with leprosy met him. They stood at a distance from him and raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!” And when he saw them, he said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” As they were going they were cleansed. And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. Jesus said in reply, “Ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?” Then he said to him, “Stand up and go; your faith has saved you.”

Please trust the Lord and pray daily. Church and St Valentine Parish is our home where we meet as Christian Family with our Lord Jesus Christ to Celebrate His Resurrection, to be forgiven, and to receive Jesus’s Body and Blood in the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Please come and join us as Community of faith for Sunday Holy Mass every week! Feel always welcomed and at home in our Church! We are all called to follow Jesus, to be his disciples, to pray, to work together and to support our Parish!

The Apostle Paul in his 1st Letter to the Corinthians (1 Corinthians 1:3-9) wrote:

“Brothers and sisters: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I give thanks to God always on your account for the grace of God bestowed on you in Christ Jesus, that in him you were enriched in every way, with all discourse and all knowledge, as the testimony to Christ was confirmed among you, so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will keep you firm to the end, irreproachable on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, and by him you were called to fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

May God protect and watch over you every day of your life. God bless you always!

Fr. Andrew

All Souls Day 2014

“I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26)

Jesus said to the crowds: “Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me, because I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me. And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day.” (John 6:3-9)

238In the Preface from the Funeral Mass, the Church reminds us of this important truth, “Life changes, but does not cease.” The souls of our loved ones still live as they continue their pilgrimage towards eternal life. Our Masses and prayers will help our loved ones reach their eternal life in paradise.

On All Saints Day, Saturday, November 1st, Father Andrew Bilinski will celebrate Holy Mass at the Parish Cemetery for all the parishioners, family, and friends at 10 a.m. He will read the names of the departed that have been mailed in and bless the graves.

All Souls Day Sunday, November 2nd, we commemorate all the Faithful Departed. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. and Father Andrew will again read the names of our departed loved ones and pray for them.

The Daylight Savings time ends Saturday, November 1st. Please do not forget to move the clocks back one hour.

May God watch over you and bless you and your family every day!
